Rush and the Rams

Last night I saw one of the best football games I’ve ever seen. The Dolphins and Jets saw five lead changes in the fourth quarter while two young quarterbacks displayed their vast potential. I’m very thankful for that experience, as it may be the last time I ever enjoy watching anyone or anything involved with the National Football League.

Throughout that game, the NFL reached out to its Hispanic fans, celebrating “Hispanic Heritage Month,” something I approve of, from both an American and a marketing perspective. Lisa Baird, an NFL senior vice president said “We're excited to honor our Hispanic players, coaches, front-office personnel and our fans this month.” The NFL recently debuted a new Hispanic-themed website, television program and marketing campaign as they continue to reach out to our southern neighbors. “One of the distinguishing characteristics of football is the way it brings diverse groups of people together," said Baird.

But less than 24 hours after Ronnie Brown’s game winning touchdown, the NFL and the media were gripped in one of the most discriminatory incidents I have witnessed in my young life. Networks, pundits, a players union representative and the NFL commissioner all joined forces to bar Rush Limbaugh from purchasing the St. Louis Rams. Apparently conservatives are not one of the “diverse groups of people” Baird and the league hope to bring together.

Rush is a highly competitive, self-made businessman with tremendous personality. He is from Missouri. In a legitimate quote from his show today, he said “I’ve always had a dream of being involved in the National Football League, I love it.” He also described his desire to be part of a national championship organization. He is the ideal owner of the now struggling St. Louis Rams.

The Left has a different opinion. Their attack revolved around Limbaugh’s alleged racism. It centered around this infamous quote: “Slavery built the South. I’m not saying we should bring it back; I’m just saying it had its merits. For one thing the streets were safer after dark.” CNN, MSNBC, James Carville, Al Sharpton and others all referred to this quote. However, none were able to produce audio of it. That is strange. Any member of “Rush 24/7" knows how simple it is to pull up Limbaugh quotes from years past. The reason for the audio’s absence was that RUSH NEVER SAID IT. The quote was created in 2005 by a blogger and later posted on a Wikepedia page.

Contrary to common belief, Rush Limbaugh is not a racist. This is clearly displayed in this most recent attack. Rush has talked for a living for 3 hours a day, 5 days a week, for over 20 years. He has written two books and appeared on television countless times. Yet the one quote repeated by the left to demonstrate his racist soul was pulled from a Wikepedia page and is completely false.

This should deeply offend all Americans. The media expected to get away with a blatant, destructive lie. A man has been publically slandered and discriminated against because of his beliefs. The virtues Americans fought for during the Civil Rights movement have been twisted to portray anyone against liberal collectivism as a bigoted racist.

When asked today about Rush Limbaugh’s chances of being allowed to purchase the Rams, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell sarcastically stated “Fat Chance.” Rush’s credentials being otherwise stellar, the commissioner’s skepticism must be in reference to either the lies perpetrated by the Left or simply his conservative beliefs. If the media plans on committing slander and libel, and the NFL plans on violating the Civil Rights Act, I hope the American people plan on holding them both accountable.

Commentary: Obama's Policy Regarding Iran

One thing that constantly baffles me is the left’s inability and/or refusal to learn from the events of history. The situation in Iran provides a critical example of how ignorance can be extremely dangerous. Two obvious examples come to mind:

Appeasement of Aggressors

Appeasing aggressive parties is a strategy that has consistently failed especially within the last 100 years. The very idea goes against common sense. A greedy spirit will by no means cease to pursue their ambitions when the opposition shows weakness and a fear of confrontation.
Chamberlain’s weakness via appeasement in 1938 arguably allowed for Hitler’s invasion of Poland and the start of the second world war. Clinton’s appeasement of Kim Jong Il through aid funded the Nuclear program it was paying to prevent. A program which now threatens freedom in Asia on almost a monthly basis.

Yet Obama campaigned on and implemented polices of appeasement regarding Iran. He dropped pre-conditions on talks and stayed silent while revolutionaries attempted to bring freedom to the nation. Obama’s appeasement of Islamic fascism has allowed Iran to make giant leaps forward in both uranium enrichment and its foreign policy. Ahmadinejad now has so little respect for the US he feels free to boast about his nuclear reactors to the UN.

UN Sanctions

History has proven UN Sanctions to be a joke as they have consistently failed to prevent further conflict. Obvious recent examples being Iraq and North Korea. They show weakness on behalf of the entire World as they basically say "I am afraid of you, and will only use force as a last resort."
Furthermore the concept of sanctions regarding Iran is much more ridiculous. Sanctions will economically destroy the livelihoods of a people that have already expressed a desire for change in their government. A desire that has been forcibly repressed. The Iranian people have made it clear they want to be free. The regime has made it more clear that it will not be swayed by their demonstrations. Bringing further suffering to an already oppressed people is a waste of time.

Iran is controlled by a regime that believes a nuclear holocaust will bring about the coming of their messiah. It is dangerously stupid to believe that economic sanctions and the suffering of its population can lead to the end of islamic apocalyptic ambition.

Leftist naivety and ignorance of history use to solely effect the domestic lives of Americans. Repeated attempts to implement failed socialist policies formerly threatened only our livelihoods and freedoms. But as this naivety reaches into foreign policy and America’s war on terror, it now directly threatens not only our lives but the lives entire World.

Obama at the UN Commentary

The climate is changing in the World; that is indisputable. Fascism is growing across South and Central America, and deranged dictators are developing nuclear bombs and mid-range Missiles with the intentions of destroying entire nations, races and religions. However last week at the UN summit in New York City, our President’s main focus was on different kind of climate change, promoting his own deranged agenda while ignoring our Country’s and the World’s real problems.

At the Green Tea Party in Washington D.C. this Saturday, tax-paying Americans discussed the science behind man-caused global warming/climate change. Although the rally was from 1-4 PM, it took anyone with an open mind a 15 minutes analysis of the facts provided to realize the theory described as “indisputable” by the left, is indisputably a hoax. A fact sheet provided at the rally which discredits both the President’s theories on climate change and his cap and trade legislation has been posted on this blog. In five minutes of reading it, one can become more in tune with reality than anyone in the White House.

When finished speaking on global warming, a theory that now strikingly resembles the global cooling hoax of the 70s, the President moved to another failed theory of that era: disarmament. As rogue dictators and unstable countries all over the World develop weapons of mass destruction, Obama’s solution is for America to abandon its ability to protect itself. Eight years after 9/11 our new President believes that putting the great society at the mercy of its enemies will lead to peace on Earth.

The clear oversight in this judgment is that our weapons did not trigger the attacks of 9/11 and the following wars. It was our way of life and our commitment to an ally. Which should force all Americans to ask themselves what are Obama’s real intentions through the implementation of this policy? Is he trying to rid the World of nuclear weapons or put an end to the American lifestyle? For a man so glowingly adored by both Hugo Chavez and Muammar Qadhafi the latter does not seem so farfetched.

The League of Nations was originally envisioned by Woodrow Wilson as a place where human rights would be promoted and war would be discouraged. Last week the United Nations provided a pulpit for men who commit acts of terrorism, execute people without due process, destabilize entire continents and rob women of the most basic rights. It also provided a venue for our President to apologize for our country while being thoroughly embarrassed by an Iranian regime that clearly has no respect for him. The UN is no longer worthless in its ability to promote rights and ease conflict, it has become a detriment to these causes.

I for one never thought that I would miss George W. Bush. But as the Middle East lies on the brink of nuclear holocaust, and our finest in Afghanistan make the ultimate sacrifice without the slightest leadership or strategy, while our President travels to Denmark to beg for the Olympics in Chicago, I miss the days when America had a leader.

Global Warming Fact Sheet

MSOP RECAP: Meeting September 22nd

The 9/12 march on Washington was a huge success. Several hundreds of thousands of people gathered (some report as many as 1 million) and I've read reports saying the White House was "shocked." Thanks to all the MSOP members that were able to make it, it was a great time.


I gathered with the students at the University of Maryland Thursday the 17th as we protested Obama's rally on the College Park Campus. We had a great time and it was encouraging to meet so many intelligent conservative students on what is a vastly liberal campus.

MSOP will hold an informational meeting Tuesday September 22 at 7:30 PM. The meeting will again be held in Silver Spring. If you're available I encourage you to attend as we will be discussing future strategies for the group. Feel free to bring anyone interested in MSOP or simply fighting big government on a local scale. Please RSVP so we have an idea of the amount of refreshments that will be required.
